Never Cross the Line: Understanding the How, What, and Why of Creating Boundaries with Students

In the world of public education and coaching, you get the privilege of mentoring, teaching and building relationships with students. Due to the nature of the job, you often end up spending the majority of your time with kids that are not your own and look to you as the responsible party. It can be easy to forget safe and critically important boundaries to keep you from making decisions that can affect your job, campus, students and even your way of life.
In this training, we identify potential career harming decisions and behaviors to avoid as well as what can be done to help keep yourself safe. We will discuss communication, travel, proximity, and explore the ever-evolving dynamics of student interaction thanks to the internet, phones, and social media.
Not only will we highlight areas of concern and provide you with a renewed sense of caution, we will also discuss proactive strategies to avoid issues in the future. You will walk away from this training session feeling empowered, equipped with a plan to avoid future missteps, and with the confidence to fulfill your duties responsibly and safely. This training is for all public education employees whether you are a coach, administrator, teacher, or district representative.
