Threat Assessment Team Training - Jointly presented with SCOE

Print Details Type of event:

  • With every targeted violence occurrence there were always signs recognized by others prior to the event.
  • Someone knew about the threat of violence and most of the time they reported it to someone else.
  • Various agencies receiving reports have a difficult time “connecting those dots” and using those reports in a meaningful way.
  • Every district has less formal or less comprehensive processes currently in place that need to be recognized and incorporated without duplication of efforts.

Lt. Dave Okada of the Salem Oregon Police Department, a contributing author of the book Assessing Student Threats, will discuss the basic concepts of a threat assessment program and how to implement a threat assessment school district team that follows the recommendations of the Safe Schools Initiative and the prescriptive outline provided by the FBI.
